I usually translate "être en train de" as "to be in the process of"

"Je suis en train de manger" is a slightly more specific form of "Je mange," in much the same way as "I'm in the process of eating" is a slightly more specific form of "I'm eating."

Not being an English native, I don't see the exact nuance between "I'm in the process of eating" and "I'm eating". I still think that "I'm eating" is "je suis en train de manger". It's also the way we're taught it in French schools. Also, we never learnt "in the process" for "en train" either. I'm noy saying that our schools are always right though :). But in my own experience in reading English, I still think that "en train" is appropriate. Maybe I'm biased.

audio is now linked to this lesson - each French word is linked only one time so you have to remember the 1st time and hear it in your head the second time :D. Click on the word to hear its pronounciation.

If you really want, I'll consider doing the conjugations. However, I'd first have to get on translating a passage for TheBarrett, and he asked me to do that several months ago! :p

Also, while I know how to pronounce the conjugations, I'm not Francophone. My pronunciation is not perfect.

Anyway, if enough people bother me, I might do this.

Yeah, except i'm patient. :D

(After all, I did see the Greeks fall, Christ rise, and Paganism forgotten in Scandinavia) :p
