Up front, I fully admit that this is a case of sour grapes. I make no apologies for that...in fact, I embrace it. I just wanted to share a story I just read that made me very, very angry.

As expected, Britney Spears' "Circus" makes a big bow at the top of The Billboard 200, becoming her fifth No. 1. The Jive set moved 505,000 copies in the United States, making Spears the only act in Nielsen SoundScan history to have four albums debut with 500,000 or more.

Since SoundScan began tracking data in 1991, only four acts -- aside from Spears -- have notched three 500,000-starts: 2Pac, 50 Cent, Garth Brooks and Jay-Z.

Previously, her second, third and fourth sets all racked up half-million weeks: 2000's "Oops! I Did It Again" started with 1.3 million, 2001's "Britney" debuted with 746,000 and 2003's "In the Zone" entered the chart with 609,000. Among female artists, only four have earned more No. 1 albums: Barbra Streisand (eight), Madonna (seven) and Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson (both with six).

I appreciate that musical taste is a very subjective thing, and all...and I admit up front that I haven't heard the album start to finish, so it could very well be brilliant, against all odds...but are you freaking kidding me?!

All on the strength of what, Womanizer?! That I have heard...ad nauseum...and, ugh.

I'ma go listen to Psychedelices again to try and wash the bad taste outta my brain. Good grief.

Cant really find fault in that.....those are all american singers, we never look at foreign music. Besides, I like Madonna and Barbera Streisand's music, I don't see why other people might not.

IMHO Alizée has a better voice, more interesting music and I like her performances a lot more. And of course she seems to have her head on straight. I'm sorry, but if this was a just universe, the world would be admiring Alizée instead.

This is very depressing to see. People love garbage music, maybe the secret of why people like crap so much will be revealed to me after my death. It's one of the biggest mysteries of the universe, right after "Is Space Infinite?" and "Which Religion Is Correct?".

Britney Spears' sales are through the roof while great new albums like this go ignored (sales wise)....

Probably because they are too lazy to look outside the radio and go find some REAL music.
And btw, that Paul Gilbert album is amazing.

honestly, every time I hear circus or womanizer on the radio i have to turn it off, i hate both songs just like i always hated her songs
