Sorry but i don't understand what the big deal is here. I guess i can kind of hear somewhat of a similarity, but it is passing at best. IMHO the thing that really drives J'en Ai Marre! is the 4 synthesized violin notes that come in (I think) every 4 measures or so. Nothing like that, that i could pick out, in the Coldplay song.

First I watched the video, and I thought to myself "whatever does this have to do with J'en ai marre?"

Then I realized that I was watching the Violet Hill video. I watched a bit of Viva la Vida, and yeah, extremely similar song framework. However, remember that absolutely everything in music has been done before. It just so happens that in this case, one group is very popular, and the other is beloved of us.

I listen to it and it doesn't sound even close to J'en Ai Marre.

Chris Martin uses too much falsetto.
Compare him to James LaBrie or Maynard Keenan, and you've got yourself a failed Coldplay vocalist.

I can see the similarity, but its not similar enough for Alizee to win the case in a court of law

She doesn't need to prove this in court, we all know she was the classic, she certainly looked better doing her song, and Coldplay is cheesy alternative rock with a Thom Yorke lookalike as a vocalist.

(no offense to them, I liked the Rush of Blood to the Head album)

lol omg Coldplay used violins too!? Sue them Alizée! She was deffinately the first person every to write any song that sounds anything like J'en ai Marre.. I mean she did write it.. didn't she? ..and she was the first ever if she did.. right?

And where does Coldplay get off being famous! I liked Radiohead before anyone had even heard of them, and they were around before Coldplay, hence, Coldplay must be terrible at life and anyone in the same genre is just a knock-off! I wish everyone had a muscial opinion as sophisticated as mine.

The opening chord progressions have a similar structure, and the violins are quite reminiscent of each other as well.
