Well,i'm from Belfast and i guarantee that any of you ever met me you would find it really difficult to understand a word i was saying. We use a lot of localised slang.
It's the same all over the world.
I would imagine that in the USA someone from Texas would speak differently from someone from California and so on etc.
Here in Northern Ireland a person from Belfast and a person from e.g. Larne have different accents and mannerisms, and Larne is only abot 12 miles from Belfast.
I always find it ammusing on TV when they say 'the person spoke with an 'Irish' accent'. The Northern Ireland accent and the Republic of Ireland accent are completely different.
Or whats really annoying is when they have a Northern Ireland character that speaks with a ROI accent. They do that all the time even in Holywood movies. It's so wrong.
Or when they have a 'British' accent it's always sounds English Upper Class (you know what i mean?) when a British accent could be English, Scottish, Welsh or Northern Irish. We don't all talk like Hugh Grant.

Typecasted Stereotypes.
When has an Asian Guy ever been portrayed as anything but comic relief, or some martial arts expert? When has an Asian girl been used in Hollywood as the romantic interest of anyone OTHER than a white guy?

That's so true Barrett. It is just Stereotypes.
Northern Ireland characters are always terrorists or ex terrorists or drunks
It's also an individual thing. I find Asian girls very very attractive yet a lot of white blokes probably don't?
It's a bit like nationalities as well. It drives me mad when someone is described as being from Korea? Is that North or South?
The majority of people from Northern Ireland (myself included) e.g. find it very offensive to be called 'Irish'. I would imagine a South Korean wouldn't be impressed with being linked with North Korea? There are so many examples when the media get it so wrong.

I guess it must be human nature to want to put everything into a few simple categories in order to wrap our brains around it. Unfortunately, the world is so much more complex than that. I’ve seen on a European forum where Americans were painted with one big, broad brush stroke and I thought, you have no idea how much variation there is in this big country. But then I realize that we are all guilty of this from time to time and all we can do is to not get upset, but gently and respectfully educate each other.

im so sick of that crap! what we need to see is an asian guy with a romantic interest in a white girl(and actually gets her). the only one i can think of is that one under cover customs agent that nearly got it on with Jackie Chan in rush hour 2, but that doesn't count!

that seriously annoys the hell out of me, mainly because it's such a stupid questions. seriously, how many freaking North Koreans have you ever met?!(to the person whose asking me this).

annd.. partially because i guess im partially North Korean? i mean, my grandparents on my mothers side were born there, but came south before the war started.. so i guess that makes me like a quarter North Korean? though its like saying one is half North Dakotan and half South Dakotan.. no actual ethnic difference. just political.

When has an Asian guy ever gotten any serious role?
Martial Arts/Wushu films are awesome yes, but i'd like variety.
Hollywood has defiled Asia's most memorable film export by turning caucasian actors and characters into similar "martial arts badasses".

When do the Asian race get to defile Hollywood?
Asian male actors that portray the high school jock, Asian male actors that portray the romanticomedy main interest...Asian m... well you get the idea.
