totally agreeing with everything Mr. Puffy put up here... but i want to add one of my own all-time favorites: Phil Manzanera's "Primitive Guitars".
This album is unlike any other, ever. In 1981, this guy cut a record that was so far ahead of its time that it still sounds futuristic, even today. Unfortunately, it's not on itunes, but you can find it on rapidshare. Me, I bought the LP version after searching for it for 20+ years. And it blows my mind, every time i play it. Nothing but guitar. And studio sound "snippets" in between songs. Otherwise, I recommend any early solo work by Bill Bruford: "Feels Good To Me", "One Of A Kind", or "Gradually Going Tornado". Of course, I'd STILL rather listen to Alizée, but when the rest of the family's sick of her, these are my next best favorites. Or Jaco Pastorius, but don't get me started about him.<<< |

Won't get ya started, just want to say I agree with you on Mr. Pastorius. Beautiful sounds he obtained with that bass. Wish I can obtain those same sounds and more on mine one day.
Today's his birthday, ya know? He would have been 59 today. Great musical mind right there. ^_^ |
